We designed this space for the sweetest couple who had a few requests on the functionality of the space. They wanted to find a way to incorporate their dogs needs into the kitchen and combining the breakfast area and kitchen to be able to accommodate more friends and family into their kitchen.  Our solution was to eliminate the breakfast table and add a drop down countertop off the island so the seating area remained at a comfortable height for dining chairs, but gives them more entertaining space when they have guests over.

For design they wanted a traditional look with a modern edge. A place that felt relevant while staying classic. They wanted to keep the overall layout of the space but update to the design to feel modern and custom. To achieve this look we connected the table to the island and have the countertop drop down from the island to the table. We opted for a more traditional look with white cabinets, glass doors and oil rubbed bronze finishes but kept the space modern with the herringbone pattern, floating shelves and custom green island.

To create the perfect entertaining space our solution was to eliminate the breakfast table and add a drop down countertop off the island so the seating area remained at a comfortable height for dining chairs, but gives them more entertaining space when they have guests over. For the island we went with a custom color, Sherwin Williams Pewter Green. A beautiful soft combination of blue and green with hints of gray and gives a lot of life to the room while keeping it timeless and traditional.

The clients foster animals and has recently adopted a new four legged friend into the family and wanted a place for the dog bowl. They have a large picture window in the breakfast area which was blank, so we added a bench seat here to make the space more inviting and add even more seats to the kitchen.  And this was also the perfect place to focus on their beloved dogs. We added rollout trays with dog bowls to these bench cabinets so the dogs still have a designated feeding space that can be easily tucked away when not in use.  We love creating spaces that can multi-functional for our clients and their adorable pets!

To keep the design modern, the floating shelves were finished in the same green as the island. Instead of the the traditional subway size we went with a modern 2×8 subway in a traditional herringbone pattern.
